1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Horsify Pty Ltd (ACN 693 058 383, ABN 63 693 058 383) of 3711 Goodwood Road, Elliott QLD 4670, Australia ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website https://www.horsify.com.au (the "Service").

Essential cookies are needed for the Service to work and are set without consent. For every other category — preference and analytics cookies — we ask for your consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, and we do not set them unless you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in our footer, or on your Consent Management page.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

Cookies can be "session cookies" (temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (cookies that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and session management. Without these cookies, services you have requested cannot be provided.

  • Authentication Cookies: Store JWT (JSON Web Token) for maintaining your logged-in session. These are HTTP-only and secure cookies.
  • Anonymous Cart Session Cookie (X-Session-Id): A short-lived session identifier set when you add items to your cart before logging in. This cookie enables your cart contents to be preserved and automatically merged into your account when you log in. It is a session cookie and is deleted when you close your browser or complete authentication.
  • Security Cookies: Help protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other security threats.
  • Session Identifiers: Maintain your session state across page requests.

Note: Essential cookies do not require your consent as they are necessary for the Service to function. However, you can manage them through your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to use certain features.

3.2 Preference Cookies

These cookies allow the Service to remember choices you make (such as theme preferences, saved filters, or postcode settings) to provide a more personalised experience.

  • Theme Preference: Stores your light/dark mode preference.
  • Search Filters: Remembers your saved search preferences and filters.
  • Location Settings: Stores your preferred postcode or location for event searches.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our Service by collecting information about pages visited, time spent on pages, and any errors encountered. This data helps us improve the Service.

  • Azure Application Insights: Monitors application performance, usage patterns, and error tracking. This includes:
    • Page views and navigation patterns
    • User interactions and feature usage
    • Performance metrics (page load times, server response times)
    • Error logs and diagnostic information
  • Google Analytics (if enabled): Provides website analytics including visitor statistics, traffic sources, and user behavior patterns.

Privacy Note: Analytics cookies are only loaded after you provide consent through our cookie consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.

3.4 Advertising Cookies

These cookies may be set by our advertising partners through our Service. They may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other websites.

  • Google Ads: Measures whether our own advertisements led to a visit or a sign-up (conversion measurement).

Privacy Note: Advertising cookies are only loaded after you provide consent through our cookie consent banner.

4. Third-Party Cookies

In addition to our own cookies, we use cookies from third-party service providers:

4.1 Embedded Videos

Clubs can embed videos on their sites, for example from YouTube or Vimeo. When you play one, that service may set its own cookies, subject to its own cookie policy. (We no longer offer sign-in with Facebook, so Facebook sets no cookies through Horsify.)

4.2 Google Services

We use several Google services that may set cookies:

  • Google Maps/Places API: For location services and venue searches
  • Google Analytics: For website analytics (requires consent)
  • Google Ads: For measuring whether our advertisements work (requires Advertising consent)

4.3 Stripe

When you make a payment, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. These are subject to Stripe's Cookie Policy: https://stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal

4.4 Microsoft Azure

Our infrastructure is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may use cookies for performance monitoring and security. Learn more: https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement

5. Cookie Consent

When you first visit our Service, you will see a cookie consent banner asking for your permission to use non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising cookies).

You can:

  • Accept All: Consent to all cookies including analytics and advertising
  • Accept Essential Only: Use only essential cookies required for the Service to function
  • Customise: Choose which categories of cookies you want to allow

Your cookie preferences are stored in a cookie called cookie-consent and will be remembered for 365 days. You can change your preferences at any time through the cookie preferences link in our footer or by visiting /Account/ConsentManagement.

6. Managing Cookies

6.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • View which cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete cookies individually or all at once
  • Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
  • Clear cookies when you close your browser

Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of our Service, particularly authentication and session management.

6.2 Browser-Specific Instructions

6.3 Opt-Out Tools

For advertising cookies, you can also use industry opt-out tools:

7. Cookie Lifespan

The lifespan of cookies varies depending on their purpose:

  • Session Cookies: Deleted when you close your browser
  • Anonymous Cart Session Cookie (X-Session-Id): Deleted when you close your browser, or automatically cleared when your cart session is merged upon login
  • Authentication Cookies: Persist until you log out or the session expires (typically 30 days)
  • Preference Cookies: Persist for 365 days or until you clear them
  • Analytics Cookies: Typically persist for 1-2 years (subject to third-party policies)
  • Consent Cookie: Persists for 365 days to remember your cookie preferences

8. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activities tracked. Currently, there is no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

Our Service respects your browser's DNT setting for non-essential cookies. If DNT is enabled, we will not load analytics or advertising cookies unless you explicitly consent through our cookie banner.

9. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.

10. Privacy Policy
